Health & Medical Preparedness

Overview

The Health & Medical Preparedness Council formulates policies and resources to assist states in providing a coordinated EMS response to incidents that impact public health. The council provides technical assistance for, and representative of, state EMS officials regarding both natural and terrorist type incidents. This includes emerging infectious disease outbreaks as they relate to planning, preparedness, response and recovery; including homeland security activities..

Vision

The vision of the Health & Medical Preparedness Council is to ensure effective preparedness activities by cooperating and collaborating with our response stakeholders.

Mission

The mission of the Health & Medical Preparedness Council is to provide assistance for and representation of State EMS Officials regarding all hazards related to planning, preparedness, response and recovery, to include homeland and security activities. The Council is committed to assuring that EMS leadership is represented at these important initiatives as well as reviewing and providing input into federal plans and documents.
