    NASEMSO, upon the recommendation of the NASEMSO Medical Directors Council, endorses the Joint Position Statement of the American College of Medical Toxicology and the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology: Nalmefene Should Not Replace Naloxone as the Primary Opioid Antidote at this Time.
  • Clinical Care and Restraint of Agitated or Combative Patients by EMS Practitioners – Joint Position Statement (NAEMSP, NASEMSO, NEMSMA, NAEMT, APA; 2021)
    The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) has had a position statement on patient restraint since 2002, which was updated in 2017. This document updates and replaces these previous statements and is now a joint position statement with NASEMSO, National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA), National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), and the American Paramedic Association (APA).

  • State EMS Medical Directors–Understanding Current Roles & Job Landscape (NASEMSO, 2023)
    While most state EMS offices have a physician appointed to serve as the state EMS medical director, their employment arrangements, qualifications, duties, and compensation vary among states. The purpose of this survey, first conducted in 2007-08 and repeated in 2022-23, was intended to capture this information to assist in identifying commonalities, especially for states in the process of creating the position.
