Job DescriptionThe EMS Training Administrator is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the strategic education plan for Vermont EMS. This position combines administrative responsibilities with team building and leadership capabilities and is principally responsible for developing educational vision within the EMS system. Key responsibilities include management of the instructor coordinator cadre, quality management of licensure courses and licensure testing, linking quality improvement data to state sponsored continuing education, and the development and delivery of state educational content. A qualified candidate will possess the ability to build coalition among numerous EMS system stakeholders and foster a cooperative work environment around initial and ongoing EMS education. Excellent candidates will also integrate modern educational theory with educational technology to improve access to training in a rural state. Duties are performed under the supervision of the EMS Chief. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.Requirements: Master’s degree in education, public policy, emergency services, or closely related field AND four (4) years or more of experience at or above a para-professional level with pre-hospital EMS INCLUDING two (2) years or more involving training responsibilities. OR Bachelor’s degree in education, public policy, emergency services, or closely related field AND six (6) years or more of experience at or above a para-professional level with pre-hospital EMS INCLUDING four (4) years or more involving training responsibilities. OR Eight (8) years or more of experience at or above a para-professional level with pre-hospital EMS INCLUDING six (6) years or more involving training responsibilities.Must be a Nationally Registered Paramedic, or other licensed healthcare professional such as a registered nurse, physician’s assistant, or physician with significant pre-hospital EMS experience.Must have or obtain within six months a Vermont Instructor/Coordinator certification.The VDH strives to build a diverse and inclusive community.
