NASEMSO Program Manager Kevin McGinnis Named as 2018 Top 10 Innovator in EMS

The winners of this year’s EMS10: Innovators in EMS awards were announced today following a closed formal presentation on Feb. 20, 2018, at an exclusive banquet, hosted as part of EMS Today 2018 in Charlotte, NC. A panel of professional EMS colleagues and peers selected the distinguished winners, who each displayed initiative, creative thinking, action-orientation and a desire to positively impact EMS, patients and their communities. See photo of winners.

This year’s winners included Kevin McGinnis, MPS, a FirstNet Board member, who is recognized for spearheading the development of a broadband network devoted solely to public safety, the first of its kind in the United States. Kevin served as the state EMS director in Maine from 1986 through 1996, receiving the Maine EMS Board Governor’s Award from Governor Angus King in 1997. Since leaving state government, he has served as a consultant for government, hospital, and EMS provider clients, specializing in service evaluation and creative system building. Kevin is the communications technology advisor to five national EMS associations, including NASEMSO, and specializes in EMS system development in community paramedicine and rural EMS.
