About the Health & Medical Preparedness Council

The Health & Medical Preparedness Council is committed to providing technical assistance for and representation of state EMS officials regarding both natural as well as terrorist type incidents, to include emerging infectious disease outbreaks, as they relate to planning, preparedness, response and recovery, to include homeland security activities.

Vision, Mission, and Scope

  • Vision: The vision of the Health & Medical Preparedness Council is to ensure effective preparedness activities by cooperating and collaborating with our response stakeholders, partners and various local, state and federal agencies. NASEMSO will work hand-in-hand during a state declared disaster or domestic incident, including infectious disease outbreaks, with their response stakeholders in order to keep members informed and to meet EMS demands of the incident.
  • Mission: The mission of the Health & Medical Preparedness Council is to assure that EMS leadership has a "seat at the table" in these important initiatives as well as reviewing and providing input into federal plans and documents.
