USFA Webinar: "Preparing for a National Catastrophic Event"

register online
During a catastrophic event, your department may have a limited capacity to maintain a sustained response. Even with mutual aid agreements in place, the direct support of the federal government is sometimes needed to prevent a catastrophic event from turning into an uncontrollable disastrous event. This webinar will highlight some of the challenging issues faced by fire and emergency services leadership in preparing for catastrophic events and how the federal government can assist. We will also talk about: the unique characteristics of a national catastrophic event; the need to assess your capabilities and catalog your assets, and the free FEMA-sponsored online systems to help you; the importance of verifying supplemental capabilities and resources; and the USFA’s pending survey of fire and emergency services capabilities and resources, and the data collection process for it. Presenter: Thomas Murray, Program Manager, Federal Operations and Emergency Support Function, USFA.
